Branch meetings & events

Our 75th anniversary celebration at The Ridge on Sunday April 28th 2024 was a wonderful celebration.

Members were greeted by the Gold Country Strings trio as they arrived, followed by a luncheon and journey through time highlighting 75 years of empowering women. Esteemed guests, Auburn Mayor Rachel Randall Harris and Placer County Supervisor Jim Holmes, presented commendations to the Branch.

The event was a celebration of the Branch’s accomplishments and a time to look toward the future. The future was explored through the eyes of three young women who have benefited from the Branch’s scholarship, Tech Trek science camp, and Speech Trek competition programs.

President Deb Sabo remarked, “Our Branch was chartered in April 1949 – and 75 years later we continue our mission to advance equity for girls and women in our local community.” The 75th anniversary celebration was a testament to AAUW-Auburn’s dedication to the community.

Speech Trek Sunday February 25th 2024 at the Beecher Room.

This was our Second Annual Speech Trek event.  This is a terrific opportunity for high school students to practice public speaking skills.  It is true what you’ve heard:  almost everyone would rather die than do public speaking!  These students are already winners because they will be light years ahead of their peers during job negotiations, work presentations, and interpersonal communications.

Our Holiday Lunch was held at Max’s on December 9th 2023.

Members enjoyed good food, good company, lots of vendors and Placer High School choir entertaining us.
