AAUW Auburn CA Tech Trek

Tech Trek Brochure Cover Page - girl in science labTech Trek is an all-scholarship STEM (science, technology, engineering & math) camp for local girls entering 8th grade. The weeklong Tech Trek camp provides opportunities for girls to learn about STEM subjects in a hands-on college environment. The Auburn Branch has a goal of sending seven girls annually. The participants are from Auburn-area schools.

At Tech Trek, campers spend a week living the life of a college student on the UC Davis campus, complete with dormitory, dining hall, and labs. Participants can envision their future through hands-on problem solving and encounters with women role models in STEM careers. Because of their experience at Tech Trek, a great many of our campers will choose college majors and careers in STEM fields – far beyond normally expected rates.

Here’s what participants say about Tech Trek camp:

  • I have gained a lot of girl power.  The idea of women making a change in this world has kept me going.
  • Tech Trek has changed my life, and pointed me in the direction I want to go.
  • The camp has ignited an intense passion for STEM that I wouldn’t have found if not for this opportunity.  I was taught how truly powerful women can be.
  • My engineering core class and activities such as Professional Women’s Night were amazing.  It was a great experience to live like a college student.
